Engine AEN

Symptoms:
- Rough idling and poor engine performance
- Excessive smoke from the exhaust, especially black or white smoke
- Difficulty starting the engine or frequent stalling
- Loss of power under acceleration
- Engine warning lights or fault codes related to fuel injection or sensors

Diagnosis:
- Check for clogged or dirty fuel injectors causing poor fuel atomization
- Inspect the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve for carbon buildup or malfunction
- Test the glow plugs and glow plug relay for proper operation, especially in cold conditions
- Examine the intake manifold and turbocharger for leaks or blockages
- Perform a compression test to assess cylinder health and detect possible head gasket issues
- Scan the engine control unit (ECU) for stored fault codes related to sensors or fuel system

Fixes:
- Clean or replace faulty fuel injectors to restore proper fuel delivery
- Clean or replace the EGR valve to prevent exhaust recirculation problems
- Replace defective glow plugs and relay to improve cold starting reliability
- Repair or replace damaged intake hoses, intercooler, or turbocharger components to eliminate leaks
- Address compression issues by repairing or replacing head gaskets or worn piston rings as needed
- Reset ECU fault codes after repairs and perform a test drive to confirm resolution

Prevention:
- Use high-quality diesel fuel and regularly replace fuel filters to prevent injector clogging
- Perform routine maintenance on the EGR system to avoid carbon buildup
- Regularly check and maintain the glow plug system, especially before winter
- Inspect intake and turbocharger components periodically for damage or wear
- Follow manufacturer-recommended service intervals for oil changes and engine tune-ups
- Avoid prolonged idling and harsh driving conditions to reduce engine stress and wear
